>  EER to build UK waste treatment plant

EER has signed an agreement for building the first PGM commercial plant for treatment of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). For this purpose EER has set up a joint venture (JV) in the UK, EER-UK Ltd., with two local partners. EER will own 75 percent of the venture, Gowing and Pursey (G&P), will own 20 percent and Mr. William Elliot will own 5 percent and serve as chairman of the board of the JV.

The facility will have the capacity to treat 30,000 tons of waste per annum. The local partners undertake to deliver sufficient waste to the plant under a 20-year contract at standing market prices.

The plant will serve as a reference plant for the British and European markets. The company says that strict solid waste treatment regulations and a ban on landfills have created a business opportunity for its environmentally friendly non-polluting solutions.

EER (UK) is currently in the process of acquiring the environmental license and the planning permission for the plant. Once the licenses have been obtained the construction of the plant shall commence.
