>  Low and Intermediate Level Radioactive Waste

LILRW treatment by PGM Technology achieves the highest degree of volume reduction of all stabilization/immobilization methods used to treat LILRW.
This single feature is of major economic importance in view of the volume-based disposal and storage costs.
The 1/20 to 1/50 volume reduction, accompanied by the highest radionuclide retention in the vitrified slag, makes PGM technology the technically and economically superior solution for radioactive waste produced by nuclear power plants or medical and research activities.

The PGM "One Step - One Reactor" concept makes it the best method for achieving the highest levels of stabilization/immobilization even compared with other thermal approaches to LILRW treatment, such as incineration. This is also reflected in treatment costs, which are considerably lower than in alternative methods.
