The already mentioned Russian PGM facility, the "PLUTON" plant, used for treatment of LILRW, can demonstrate the unique performance features of this technology, which achieves the highest levels of radioactive waste stabilization / immobilization.

The 250 kg/h to 350 kg/h throughput capacity of the "PLUTON" type plant makes it ideal for siting on NPP premises, or at a LILRW storage facility.

The main purpose of LILRW treatment is volume reduction and stabilization of radioactive components.
Energy recovery is thus not part of the system.
