EER’s PGM technology Demonstration Facility has the capacity of about 500 kg/h. While too small to commercially treat MSW, this demonstration facility comprises all the parts of a commercial system, such as receiving and feeding, processing in the PGM Reactor, combusting the Syngas in an afterburner, heat recovery steam boiler, steam turbine and generator.

This facility will demonstrate the PGM Technology, its characteristics and will permit real-time observation of its operational, economic and environmental features.

Only a Rankine Cycle based energy recovery system was chosen, due to the small capacity (compared to a commercial facility) of the demonstration plant. As already indicated, a commercial size facility will have an energy recovery system configured in Brayton Cycle format , i.e., an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) or a Gas Turbine (GT) to take advantage of the higher conversion efficiency so achievable.

Upon completing its purpose for MSW treatment demonstration, this PGM facility will be modified and operated as a commercial medical waste treatment plant, since its capacity and scale are just right for this purpose.

The Demonstration Facility in Yblin is operated under different conditions, enabling collection of Data and operating Parameters which enable to evaluate in real terms and real time the efficacy of implementing PGM technology in the treatment of MSW in the contex of Environmental and Economic characteristics.
